Sync Location

Schools with SIS Blackbaud Integration can now sync (create and update) all their locations on Orah. For schools with an active SIS integration, the steps below will guide you to sync the location from respective SIS.

Create & Update
Building name + Room name

🧭 Navigate : Admin Console > Data Integration or App Directory > Integration
Use this link to go directly to the SIS integration page

☝🏽 Note - If a new Blackbaud connection has been made, it is most likely that the location records are synced. So, if you have already synced location, skip to view location below.

🧭 Navigate : App Directory (left side menu bar) > under the SIS Partners tab > Blackbaud

Step 01
Navigate to Blackbaud in App Directory and click 'New Sync Object' on the right side

Step 02

Select 'Location' from the list of available records to sync, and click on 'Next'

You can also configure settings by clicking on the 'Configure Settings' button on the right

Step 03
Preview/Configure the values that will be synced, and click on 'Done'

Finished !
Your School's SIS Location will be now synced with Orah

Location Sync Settings

  • Schools have 2 sync options to Create or Update location accounts or both.

  • Create - will create any new location user account

  • If you don't want to auto-sync, it can be disabled using the Auto-Sync toggle option

  • Auto-sync takes place once every 24 hrs

  • Use the Sync button on the top right corner to manually run the sync

  • Use the kabab (3 dots) menu on the top right corner to remove the sync

  • Note removing the sync will not result in deleting the location

🧭 Navigate : Admin Console > Data Integration or App Directory > Integration > Location > Settings

View Synced Location

Once the integration is completed, all the locations will be available at
🧭 Navigate : Admin Console > Locations

  • SIS imported locations can be used as regular locations

  • Will be displayed on My Schedule, Roll Records, Location Overview etc

Characteristics of SIS locations :

  • SIS Icon: each imported location is marked with an SIS icon

  • Zones Assignment: If not set when configuring the sync, locations are automatically assigned to existing 'On Grounds' zones

  • User Interactive Tracking: will be disabled by default for all SIS locations

  • In-transit Tracking: will be hidden for SIS locations (feature is being phased out)

  • Geo-location Handling:

    • Main locations can have geo-location tagged

    • Sub-location will inherit geolocation from the parent/main location by default

    • Sub-location can have its own geo-location if "Inherit the geolocation from the parent location" option is disabled

  • Allowed Actions:

    • Move SIS locations to a different zone.

    • Create manual sub-locations under the SIS locations

  • Restricted Actions:

    • Cannot delete SIS locations.

    • Cannot rename SIS locations.

    • Cannot change location type

    • Cannot change zone directly (moving the location will change the zone)

  • New Filters in Location Manager:

    • SIS Locations

    • Orah Locations

For existing schools - that already have locations on Orah - running this location sync would add all the SIS locations along with the existing ones.

For new schools - not having any locations - running this location sync would give schools a head start. Start using locations in Orah right away β€” no manual locations to be added. From day one, you'll be ready to use SIS locations for attendance, passes, tracking, and more.

Hope this was helpful. Orah can also import all locations from other SIS like Veracross and TASS (coming soon), do let your neighboring school know about it. If you have any further questions, just click the blue chat icon at the bottom right corner of this page or email us at Support email - support@orah.com, we will help you navigate through it. Cheers !
