Part 1: Configuring your Orah Account for Class Attendance

Welcome to Orah! This guide is designed to help you configure your Class Attendance setup specifically for FACTS SIS. By the end of this flow, your data will be syncing seamlessly, and your team will be ready to monitor student trends.

Updated this week

The configuration phase ensures that Orah and FACTS SIS are talking to each other correctly and that your users have the right permissions.

1. Integrating Orah with your FACTS SIS Account.

Before we can analyze data, we need to establish a secure connection between your systems.

  1. Creating your Orah account as the first Orah user from your School.

2. Setting up your Integration: Connect Orah to your FACTS SIS environment. - Setting up your FACTS SIS Integration

3. Understanding Scopes & Objects: A look at what data (Students, Classes, Attendance) Orah pulls.

3. Roll Marking Logic

Customize how attendance is captured in the classroom and synced with your records.

  • Attendance Codes: Define your classroom-specific statuses (e.g., Present, Remote, Late, Absent).

  • Write-Back Settings: Configure how and when Orah sends the marked attendance data back to your SIS.

  • Automatic Reminders: Set up notifications for teachers who haven't submitted their rolls within a specific timeframe (e.g., the first 10 minutes of class).

  • Automated Attendance: If your school uses automated attendance (via NFC, Bluetooth, or Kiosks), configure those triggers here to ensure rolls are updated without manual teacher entry.

4. Setting up Single Sign-On (SSO): Enable your staff to log in using their FACTS SIS credentials. - Single Sign-on Orah

2. User & Access Management

Define who can mark rolls and who can override attendance data.

  • Teacher Roles: Assign permissions that allow teachers to see only their assigned classes while giving Admins a bird's-eye view.

  • Substitute Access: Configure how "Cover" or "Substitute" teachers can access rolls for a specific period.

3. Data & Branding

To get accurate insights, we need to organize your Staff, Student and Contact database.

Manage student tags, customize Orah’s appearance, and configure your preferred login method.

4. Attendance Logic & Workflow

This is where the Attendance come to life. We map your FACTS SIS attendance codes to Orah's logic.

Mapping Reasons: Ensure a "Late" in FACTS SIS reflects as a "Late" in Orah.

Configuring Passes: Define why students are moving (e.g., Medical, Late).

5. Hardware & Checkpoints

If you are tracking physical movement on campus, you'll need to set up your kiosks.

Setting up a Checkpoint Kiosk: Configure a dedicated station for student check-ins.

Next Steps

Now that your configuration is complete, you are ready to move on to the Actual Usage phase, which is standard across all platforms.
