Part 5: Final Step: Review & Go-Live (Class Attendance)

Before you officially launch Orah for classroom roll-marking, run through this final checklist. This ensures your timetable data is accurate, your teachers are prepared, and your write-back settings are ready for live operations.

Updated this week

1. Integration & Timetable Sync

Verify that the connection between your SIS (Blackbaud/Veracross/FACTS) and Orah is capturing the live school day.

  • Class & Roster Check: Run a manual sync and confirm that the number of classes and student rosters in Orah matches your SIS for the current term.

  • Timetable Accuracy: Spot-check three teachers to ensure their specific schedule (periods, times, and room numbers) appears correctly on their Orah dashboard.

  • Write-Back Mapping: Confirm that every Orah classroom code (e.g., Present, Tardy, Absent) is mapped to the correct corresponding code in your SIS to ensure official records update automatically.

2. Staff Access & Roll Permissions

Ensure your faculty can access their rolls without friction on the first day.

  • Teacher Roles: Confirm that staff are assigned as "Teachers" so they see their specific classes, while "Attendance Managers" have the oversight needed to monitor the whole school.

  • SSO/Login Test: Have a teacher perform a test login via the web and the browser extension to ensure Single Sign-On (SSO) is functional.

  • Substitute/Cover Logic: Verify that administrative staff know how to grant a temporary teacher access to a specific class roll if a regular staff member is absent.

3. Classroom Workflow & Logic Testing

Run a "Dry Run" of a live period to ensure the automation works as expected.

  • Roll Submission: Mark a test student as "Late" in a dummy class to ensure the time-stamp is captured and the record saves correctly.

  • Automated Reminders: Verify that the "Unsubmitted Roll" notification triggers correctly for a teacher if a roll isn't marked within your required window (e.g., 10 minutes into class).

  • Automated Attendance: If using NFC or Kiosks, test a student tap-in to ensure it automatically updates the teacher's roll from "Unaccounted" to "Present."

4. Communications & Internal Support

Make sure your staff knows who to turn to during the morning rush.

  • Teacher "Cheat Sheet": Ensure teachers have received the training for the Browser Extension and the Mobile App.

  • Parent Launch: Confirm that parent invitations have been sent so they can begin reporting absences that will flow into the teacher's roll.

  • Internal Support: Designate your "Orah Super-User" on campus to handle immediate classroom questions before they are escalated to Orah Support.

You Are Ready!

Once these boxes are checked, your school is officially ready to go live with Full Class Attendance.
