Part 2: How Orah works

Now it’s time to explore Orah in action. Test passes and check-ins, view attendance dashboards, and understand how absences flow through the system during day-to-day use.

Updated this week

Orah Trial for Attendance Insights and Dashboards

1. Attendance Insights & Dashboard

Analyze high-level data to identify patterns and school-wide attendance health.

  • Attendance Insights: Navigate the main dashboard to view attendance percentages and trends over time.

2. Identifying Concerns & Automation

Move from passive monitoring to active intervention using automated triggers.

  • Attendance Concerns & Alerts: Review flagged students and manage automated notifications for specific attendance thresholds.

Absence Reconciliation

Ensure your records stay accurate by matching unexplained flags with verified reasons.

  • Reconciling Absences: Review "Unexplained" flags and update them using parent notes, teacher comments, or pass data to sync accurately with Blackbaud.

Next Steps

You’re now ready to use Attendance Insights and dashboards during your trial to review patterns, spot gaps, and stay informed.

Orah Trial for Full Class Attendance

1. Taking Attendance

Teachers have three flexible ways to mark rolls, ensuring they can capture data regardless of their workflow.

  • On the Web: Use the full Orah dashboard for a complete view of the classroom, including seating charts and student profiles.

  • Orah Browser Extension: Mark rolls directly from a sidebar without leaving your SIS or other open tabs.

  • Mobile App: Ideal for PE, excursions, or outdoor activities—mark rolls quickly from a phone or tablet.

2. Attendance Insights

Once the rolls are marked, administrators can move from data entry to data analysis.

  • Trend Identification: Spot patterns in student behavior, such as students who are frequently late on Monday mornings or missing specific periods.

  • School-Wide Analytics: View attendance percentages by year level, house, or custom student groups.

  • Actionable Reporting: Export detailed reports for compliance or pastoral meetings to discuss student engagement trends.

Attendance Insights and Dashboards

3. Editing Attendance Records

Learn how to adjust data when the situation on the ground changes manually.

  • Attendance Record Edit: Sometimes a mistake is made or a student's status changes mid-period. This guide shows you how to find a specific record and edit the status, time, or reason code to ensure the log is 100% accurate.

4. Attendance Reconciliation (Part 1 & 2)

The core process of turning "Unexplained" marks into verified data.

  • Reconciliation Part 1 (The Basics): Focus on the daily cleanup. Identify students with "Unexplained" absences and learn how to quickly assign reasons based on incoming parent communication or staff notes.

  • Reconciliation Part 2 (Advanced & SIS Sync): Go deeper into bulk reconciliation for large groups (like sports trips) and understand the logic of how these reconciled records "write back" to your Veracross SIS to maintain your official records.

Next Steps

You’re now ready to continue your trial of Orah Class Attendance, with everything in place to test, learn, and adjust.

You’re now ready to trial Orah in real scenarios and experience how attendance and insights work seamlessly together.
