Why don't parents see "Excused" or "Unexcused" labels on attendance reasons in the Families App?

Excused and Unexcused labels are hidden from parents in the Families App — only the reason name is shown

If you're a parent using the Orah Families App and you can see attendance records but can't find an "Excused" or "Unexcused" label — this is expected behaviour.

Orah has removed the Excused and Unexcused classification flags from the parent-facing view. Parents will now only see the reason name (e.g. "Sick", "Sports Trip") without the excused/unexcused classification attached to it.

Why was this changed?

This simplification reduces confusion for parents. The excused/unexcused distinction is an internal administrative classification used by staff, and is not relevant to what parents need to see.

Can staff still see excused/unexcused labels?

Yes. This change only affects the parent view in the Families App. Staff and administrators continue to see the full excused/unexcused classification on all attendance records as normal.
