Overview
Orah integrates with Wonde to sync student, staff, and photo data from school information systems including KAMAR, iSAMS, Synergetic, SIMS, and others. This article covers how to diagnose and resolve student photo sync issues via Wonde.
How Photo Sync Works
When Orah connects to your SIS via Wonde, it requests student and staff photos as part of the regular sync. Photos are fetched by Wonde from your SIS and passed through to Orah. If photos are not appearing or updating in Orah, the issue is typically in one of these areas: photos not yet uploaded to the SIS, missing Wonde permissions, or a sync error that requires investigation.
Step 1: Check That Photos Exist in Your SIS
Before investigating Wonde or Orah, confirm that student photos are present in your SIS. Photos cannot sync if they haven't been uploaded to the source system.
Step 2: Check SIS Permissions for Photo Access
Wonde requires specific permissions from your SIS to access student photos. If these permissions were not granted during initial setup, or were removed during a the account setup, photos will not sync.
Log in to your SIS integration
Navigate to Applications and find the Orah integration
Check that photo access is listed as an approved data scope
If it is not approved, approve it — Orah will request photos on the next sync
If your school recently received a request to update your Wonde account permissions, your Orah account manager will have shared the steps directly with you.
Step 3: Check the Sync Log for Errors
Photo sync failures sometimes appear as errors in Orah's integration sync log.
Go to Settings → Integrations → Wonde
Review the last sync log for any photo-related errors
If errors are present, contact Orah support with a copy of the error details — resolution may require investigation on the Wonde or SIS side
Step 4: Trigger a Manual Sync
If photos are present in the SIS and permissions are correct, try triggering a manual sync:
Go to Settings → Integrations → Wonde
Click Sync Now or Force Sync if available
Wait a few minutes and check whether photos have updated in Orah
Notes for Specific SIS Systems
KAMAR
If your school uses KAMAR, confirm that your KAMAR configuration allows external systems to access student photos. If photos were recently added or updated in KAMAR, allow time for KAMAR's export process to run before expecting them to appear in Orah. Contact Orah support if photos are still missing after a full sync cycle.
iSAMS
If your school uses iSAMS and you are seeing photo sync errors in the Orah integration log, contact Orah support with the error details. Some iSAMS photo sync issues require coordination between Orah and iSAMS to resolve at the API level.
When to Contact Support
Photos are present in the SIS and Wonde permissions are correct, but photos still don't appear after a full sync cycle
You see errors in the sync log that you cannot resolve
Only some students are missing photos — this may indicate a data matching issue
Photos were updated in the SIS but old photos are still showing in Orah
Include in your request: your SIS name, approximately how many students are affected, and any error messages from the sync log.
