Monitor all ongoing conversation on Orah with Communication Monitor

Summary

Conversation Monitor is an important part of My Conversation, a school can monitor and keep track of all ongoing conversations be it direct 1-o-1 with students or group conversations with this new Monitor tool.

Orah's Communication feature provides a monitored platform for interactions between students and staff, ensuring all communications are secure and supervised. This guide will walk you through the new 'Monitor' feature. helping to replace unmonitored chats on platforms like WhatsApp, WeChat, Instagram, and Snapchat etc with a monitored system.

☝🏽 Note - Communication is a new feature, talk to your Orah SPOC to enable it.


Staff Access to Conversation

Once you have added the My Conversations and Monitor product to your school account, head to Admin Console to provide Monitor access to yourself and your colleagues.

🧭 Navigate : From left panel Admin Console > Admin > Select a Staff > Additional Permission Use this link to directly go to the staff user setting

  • A new permission called "Monitor" has been added under the Communication

  • Locate and check the checkbox βœ… View all school communications

  • By default, this permission is not granted to any staff/admin user

  • This permission is separate from the "Broadcast" and "Conversation" permissions and does not attach to the "Assigned Students" under the connect permission

  • This will then provide Monitor access to staff members and will start appearing on the left nav bar

β€‹β˜πŸ½ Note - Communication Monitor access will provide access to all school communication, irrespective of any assigned student access on the platform.

Features of the Communication Monitor

Conversation List

  • List of all ongoing conversations within the school is displayed on the left side of the monitor page - be it Direct or Group conversation

  • Student name and profile photo is displayed first followed by the staff

  • Most recent communications will appear at the top of the list

  • A search bar is available for staff users to search for both student or staff name

  • Matching results will be displayed in the list; if no matches are found, a graphic with the text "No matched conversation" will appear

  • Select on any of the conversation to load that conversation on the right-side panel

Message Window Panel

  • The right side panel shows the selected conversation details

  • The header displays both the student's and staff's names

  • The conversation layout shows student messages on the right and staff messages on the left. Also be indicated by the blue-green icon

  • Timestamps and dates will be displayed for all messages

  • Conversations are grouped by date

  • Staff monitoring cannot send messages or interact with the conversation panel

  • To get real-time updates, staff monitoring the conversation would need to refresh the page or jump back and forth from a different conversation

The Communication Monitor feature on Orah ensures that all school-related interactions are supervised, contributing to a safer and more controlled communication environment. Staff monitoring the conversation can easily access and utilize this feature to oversee and maintain proper communication standards within the school.
