What are Mood Checks?
Mood checks are a simple way your students can share their thoughts about how they feel and what the factors impacting their overall mood.
Mood checks use intelligently designed and interactive surveys which students can use to reflect on their emotions and thoughts using various ‘Emotion labels’, ‘Mood Influences’, ‘Energy & Happiness quotient’, and even a free text field to articulate their emotions.
Collected responses are then presented to you to show a collective Mood summary of the school and you can even dive deeper into reviewing each student's mood & reasons.
Reviewing Mood Checks & Understanding the Widgets
To review Mood Checks, simply go to your Navigation bar and click on ‘Student Care (Nurture)’ and click on ‘Mood Checks’
There are many options to help you find the information you need.
You can filter by:
- House/ Dorm
- Tag
- Date Range
Mood Check responses summary is shown via beautifully designed widgets - ‘Mood Map’. ‘Climate’ & ‘Influences of All’
Mood Climate shows the overall mood of the filtered group for the selected date range.

Energy & Happiness response of the Students
Emojis represents the Mood status of the students
You can tap on any of the Mood Emoji to view the details of students and further click on the student’s name to view the Mood Check report.
Click on any student's name to view their Mood Check Report. Mood check report will show
Student’s Mood Status
What influenced their mood
Any notes that the student has added giving more details
Their energy & pleasantness bars at the time of responding
Timestamp when the Mood Check was taken by the student
Snapshot of the students view of the record
Internal staff comments
Comments to student
Climate shows the different mood types selected by the responders and it also highlights any concerning mood statuses like Anxiety, Jittery, or Positive mood status like Motivation.
Influences of All represents
Mood Influences affecting the mood of the students
Number of responses citing the particular mood influencer as the reason behind their Mood status
Contribution of influencing factors at different Energy & Happiness levels of the students
Click on the colour filters available at the bottom to view the summary at different Energy & Happiness levels
Trends
Trends widget shows easily recognisable lines for Energy & Happiness responses giving a good idea of the development and direction of Students mood
Trends can be viewed for the different date range
Analysing the upward & downward trend lines can help schools plan their root cause analysis and work on strategies to maintain a healthy emotional environment amongst their students.
Records of Concern
Simply put, every School Administration wants to be alerted concerning the emotional state of their children
Schools can create a list of concerning mood types to which they wish to be alerted every time a student experiences that mood
Records of concern highlight students with concerning mood based on the responses collected via the Mood Check
This allows schools to act upon providing care or creating other measures on improving the situation.
Click on the Student’s name to view their Mood check report to get a detailed view of the mood check, discussion within internal staff comments or comments to student.

Users can also view a summary of Mood Check responses for the selected date range
Use the search bar option to find specific students from the record list
Or use the available filters to find students based on their - Mood Status, Influences, Notes or Students displayed concerning mood status
Click on the Concern Flag to add a student response to the Records of Concern
User the Export tab to download Mood Check Record into a CSV file
How do students engage with Student Care (Nurture)?
When a Mood Check is configured for your school, students will be able to log in to their Orah App, open the Student Care (Nurture) tab, and then complete their Mood Checks.

Mood checks are a simple & interactive way of letting your school know how you are feeling.
All you have to do is use simple sliders, clicks and express how you feel everyday.
Submitting a Mood Check
Web App
From your Orah Student App or web app, click on Wellness
This will open up Mood Checks, you can view the record of your past Mood checks under My Mood Checks.
To start a new Mood check - click on the section asking How do you feel?
Start off by sharing your energy and happiness levels using simple sliders and click on next
Choose the emoji that best describes how you feel
Simply tap on what you think is the reason behind your mood and click on send
Lastly, if you wish to share something you can add in the notes or just simply click on send.
Voila! With this, you have submitted your Mood Check.
Once your Mood Check is completed, a suggestion of your school's support staff is shown to you. If you wish to speak to anyone of them, simply click on their name to get their availability & contact details.
