Summary
Schools can now assign daily attendance policies to different year levels or grades to view insights on a per-day basis. These policies are automatically applied to calculate daily attendance records based on class attendance data for that day.
Schools can view daily attendance according to the policy set on :
Attendance Insights Dashboard
-For Attendance Metrics/Rate can toggle the widget between class and day
-For other widgets new columns have been added to show daily attendance
-Individual Student Profile > Attendance Insights
Alert settings have also been updated to accommodate daily attendance
Eg. Schools can create and get an alert if a student is marked absent for the day
Options for daily attendance co-exist alongside course alerts
What defines the Policy ?
There are two policy options to choose from:
First Class: A student is marked present for the day if they attend their first class.
All Classes: A student is marked present for the day only if they attend all classes (default policy)
The two policies above have 4 hardcoded definitions each, according to which daily attendance is set.
Definitions for Policy
First scheduled class of the day - Rule 1
🟩 Present for Day - Present for their 1st scheduled class of the day
🟨 Late for Day - Late for their 1st scheduled class of the day
🟧 Excused Absent for Day - Excused Absent for their 1st scheduled class of the day
🟥 Unexcused Absent for Day - Unexcused Absent for their 1st scheduled class of the day
First scheduled class of the day policy allows you to have multiple selections like it could be the first class of Any class type or Athletics, Academics, Activities, and Advisories.
This policy takes into account only the 1st class scheduled for the day for that student to be able to assign attendance for the entire day. Class attendance taken after the first scheduled class won't matter.
All Classes throughout the day - Rule 2 (default policy)
🟩 Present for Day - Present for their 1st scheduled class of the day
🟨 Late for Day - Late or absent for their 1st scheduled class but attended later classes
🟧 Excused Absent for Day - Excused Absent for all classes throughout the day
🟥 Unexcused Absent for Day - Unexcused Absent for all classes, or a combination of Unexcused Absent and Excused Absent throughout the day
This policy takes into account all of the classes scheduled for the day for that student to be able to assign attendance for the entire day.
☝🏽 Note - the policy is based on the scheduled class times for the day, not the order in which attendance was taken. This means that even if roll call is conducted first for the second class and later for the first class, the system will still evaluate attendance based on the first scheduled class of the day.
For example:
If a student’s first scheduled class is at 9:00 AM and their second class is at 10:00 AM, the system will prioritize the 9:00 AM class to determine their daily attendance status, regardless of when attendance was actually taken.
This ensures consistency and accuracy in assigning daily attendance, as it aligns with the student’s actual schedule rather than the timing of roll call.

Check out the daily attendance now
☝🏽Note - we have limited the daily attendance regeneration as per the academic year. As per the data center it's 1st August for Virginia / Ireland region schools and 1st Jan for Sydney region schools.
By default, all existing schools will get a default daily attendance policy which will have Rule 2. And the daily attendance data will be generated for existing schools for the past 12 months.
If a student is not assigned a year level those students will come under a group called Year-level unassigned at the end.
