š§© Overview
The Medication Catalog is the master list of medications used by the school.
Before staff can:
administer medication
create prescriptions
track medication inventory
the medication must first exist in the Medication Catalog.
Each medication record includes details such as:
medication name
manufacturer
medication type
strength
dosage instructions
š Where to find the Medication Catalog
Go to Student Care
Click Medication
Click Medication Settings
š§ Create a medication
To create a new medication:
Go to Medication Catalog
Click + Add Medication
Complete the required fields
Click Save
The medication will now be available for prescriptions and medication administration.
Required fields
When creating a medication, the following fields are required:
Field | Description |
Medication Name | Must be unique |
Manufacturer | Name of the medication manufacturer |
Type | OTC or POM |
Unit Type | Example: tablet, capsule, ml |
Strength | Example: 500 mg |
Optional fields include:
Description
Instructions
Dose Restrictions
Medication types
OTC (Over-the-Counter)
OTC medications:
do not require a prescription
can be administered directly by staff
can be tracked in inventory
Examples include Paracetamol or Ibuprofen.
POM (Prescription-Only Medicine)
POM medications:
require a prescription
are administered through a prescription schedule
Examples include antibiotics or prescribed ADHD medication.
š§ Edit a medication
To edit a medication:
Open Medication Catalog
Locate the medication
Click the ā® (three-dot menu)
Select Edit
Update the fields
Click Save
Changes automatically apply to all associated prescriptions.
Important rule
After a medication is created:
The medication type (OTC or POM) cannot be changed.
š§ Duplicate a medication
Duplicating a medication allows you to create a similar medication quickly.
Open Medication Catalog
Click the ā® menu
Select Duplicate
Update the medication name
Click Save
You must change the medication name before saving.
š§ Delete a medication
To delete a medication:
Open Medication Catalog
Click the ā® menu
Select Delete
Confirm the deletion
Important limitations
A medication cannot be deleted if it is used in:
an active prescription
a paused prescription
Search, sort, and filter
Staff can search the catalog by:
medication name
manufacturer
description
instructions
You can also:
sort medications alphabetically
filter by medication type (OTC or POM)

Can I delete a medication from the catalog?
Yes, but only if it is not used in an active or paused prescription.
Can I change a medication from OTC to POM?
No. The medication type cannot be changed after creation.
Why canāt I create a medication with the same name?
Medication names must be unique to prevent duplicate records.
