Overview
Students can now request and manage hall passes directly at automated attendance kiosks, without needing a staff member to issue the pass.
When a student scans in more than 15 seconds after their previous check-in, the kiosk displays a Hall Pass option.
How it works
The student selects the Hall Pass option on the kiosk.
The student reviews the pass details — name, rules, and end time — and can edit the location field.
The pass is created instantly.
The kiosk shows the pass's live status, including a late flag if the return time is exceeded.
The student scans again at the kiosk to close the pass.
What staff see
Staff keep full visibility of every pass created this way and are notified if a pass isn't returned on time. Staff no longer need to manually issue these passes.
Admin configuration
Pass templates control this feature. Administrators can use them to:
Designate who can create passes
Specify available locations
Set which reason/location/notes fields appear
Establish duration rules with live preview updates
Determine whether passes can be created at checkpoints, automated kiosks, or both
Do students need staff help to get a hall pass at the kiosk?
No — students can select, review, and create an eligible hall pass themselves at the kiosk, then scan again to close it out.
Can students edit the pass details at the kiosk?
They can review the name, rules, and end time, and edit the location field. Other fields follow what the admin configured on the pass template.
Will staff still know a pass was created?
Yes — staff retain visibility of all passes and are notified if a student misses their return time.
Which pass types show up on the kiosk?
Only pass templates an administrator has configured to allow creation at checkpoints, automated kiosks, or both.
