Can I give an active pass a later return time?

Yes — edit the pass's Return time. Here's how that's different from editing the actual end time or rescheduling.

Yes. If a pass/leave is already active and the student needs to come back later than originally scheduled, you don't need to end the pass or reschedule it — just edit the scheduled Return time.

How to do it

  1. Open the pass/leave record

  2. Click Edit

  3. Update the Return time field to the new, later time

  4. Save

The pass stays active the whole time — the student isn't signed back in, and the pass doesn't get bumped back to "Scheduled". You're just telling Orah when the student is now expected back.

☝🏽 If the pass type has an auto sign-in/auto-end rule, the pass's actual end time will automatically update to match the new Return time. If there's no auto-end rule, the pass simply stays active until someone signs the student in.

Don't confuse this with...

Editing the Actual Start & End Time

This is a different field/section on the pass, used to correct the actual sign-out/sign-in timestamps after the fact — not the scheduled return time. Setting an actual end time on an active pass will save it and end the pass immediately, which is not what you want if you're just extending the return time. See Editing Pass Actual Start & End Time.

Reschedule

Rescheduling an active pass changes its status back to Scheduled and clears its active start/end times — effectively un-starting it, rather than simply giving it a later return time. Only use Reschedule if you actually want the pass to go back to a scheduled (not yet signed-out) state. See Rescheduling and reactivating a pass.
