How to Gate Students

Gating a student temporarily restricts their access from passes and off campus locations

Gating a Student

  1. Go to the Board
    Navigate to the board where your students are displayed.

  2. Select Student(s)

    • Hover over the student’s tile.

    • Click on the right-hand side of the tile to select one or multiple students.

  3. Click on “Gating”

    • Once you’ve selected the student(s), click the Gating button.

  4. Add Details

    • Enter the reason for gating the student.

    • Choose the duration of the gate.

  5. Confirm

    • Click Gate Student.

    • A lock icon will appear on the student’s tile, showing they are gated.


Ungating a Student

  1. Locate the student’s tile with the lock symbol.

  2. Click on the lock symbol.

  3. Select Ungate.

  4. The lock symbol will disappear, confirming the student is now ungated.


Tips

  • You can gate multiple students at once by selecting more than one tile before clicking Gate.

  • Always include a clear reason when gating students — this will help maintain context if you or your colleagues review the history later.
